I love the Kylo Ren character. I love how he looks, how he sounds, that he can and does remove his helmet, but mostly I love his lightsaber. The “ancient” design with the lateral vents to port the excess heat is a sight to behold for any Star Wars fan. So, since I was going to be Kylo for Halloween and I had my completed Kylo Ren helmet, I really needed his lightsaber to make my costume complete.
On a recent visit to Disneyland, I bought a Kylo Ren lightsaber with fixed blades, lights and sound effects. These are pretty rugged toys and mostly look pretty good compared to the actual prop. Also, compared to the Black Series version, is much, much cheaper, $30 instead of $199.
I found some great photos of an official licensed replica to help me identify some of the key differences in the toy. The main difference was that the blade emitter on the toy is larger than the prop.
